Houses, or Single Family Residential Detached Dwellings

What is most common of what people think about a "house" is the SFR (single family residential) detached dwelling.  It is not attached to a neighbor's dwelling and usually sits on its own plot of land which is surrounded by other properties similar to it.  On the outer parts of the lot are the buffer zones.  This is a zoning of so many feet that cannot be encroached upon by a dwelling or out building.  This allows each property to maintain a space from improvements of other properties and to not be encumbered.

Even though the land the improvement sits on may have an additional storage shed or detached garage with a garage apartment above or perhaps a mother-in-law suite in the basement of the house below, single family residential means exactly that.  A property of this nature can be leased out to another family however only one family can reside on the property at one time.

Houses are typically in suburban and further out in rural areas but can be found in town close to urban living.  It may or may not have an HOA (home owner's association) which may or may not have manditory fees that pay for common elements or services to the immediate subdivision that the dwelling is in.
